    Hi,
I am testing m5 strategy and speed is ok, however after adding higher TF what my strategy requires (x12 = 1H) tester looses it speed… it is very frustrating then I want to skip all not UK-USA time fast. What can be done?
    Thanks

Can I expect fast resolve of this issue? It seems other topic is not yet answered as well. I will be fair, if you not fix this speed issue I will ask money back, I just got your software for this MTF future, but if it is not working properly I don’t need it. And I want it as fast as possible.

By the way, I am working with VOLUME, and it seems in the added HTF volume does not working/counting too! Please fix it. Hope you will update your software.

    Have a nice day

    Hi Irmantas,

The MTF feature uses additional resources and therefore can slow down the speed of the backtest.

The only thing I can recommend that you try is changing the modelling quality to the control points method, it should speed up the process.

If that doesn’t help much then I’m afraid the hardware is not suitable for this and you should consider upgrading it.

Fixing the Volume on offline charts is in the to do list and should be released within the next two weeks.

Please let me know if this helps

    Thanks

I think my I5 processor with 8gb RAM and SSD hard drive should handle some MT4 testing … No additional recourse is eaten then adding HTF and when it starts to SLOW.

http://prntscr.com/8zpc24 This is how it looks in testing mode, no lagging indicators insterted.
In different modeling mode there is no significant increase in speed. After closing HTF there is no increase in speed, so I guess is some bug somewhere…

Does it go fast for you with multiple timeframes? Maybe there is something wrong with my mt4 ?

    Hi,

with that spec you shouldn’t experience a significant or even noticeable slowdown. Other users with less powerful pcs are happily using mtf without any problems, in fact before each release I test the software on a pc with a T3000 Intel Celeron processor and 2 GB RAM and it works fine there.

I suspect it will be something local but to say if it is the terminal, windows or a third app is only possible after some investigation.

Is it happening with all Symbols?
Is it happening with all brokers in different terminals?
Do you have an antivirus on a very strict setting running? The MTF functionality involves moving files and something might be capturing them.

If this doesn’t help I can have a look tonight around 9pm UK time using remote access.

    Thanks,
    Jan

    Hi,
    Played around today.
It is happening with all the symbols, and on different brokers and terminals (tried 3). Antivirus is blocked at the time. SSD drive has enough space.

I noticed strange behavior what I did not saw yesterday, which can be the case. After slowing down with HTF, if I click on HTF window and make it active, it starts to blink with “waiting for update” and it seems speed increases how it should be, but if it is not active it’s going slow. I made a video example for this ( https://www.dropbox.com/sh/odx25b484h9rh0u/AAAaMujA86_JyR31g0pRDzEia?dl=0 ), please download for better quality.

I think I can use your testing software like this, not so bad speed when clicked on HTF window for skipping Asia time. And if no one else is experiencing this kind of behavior no further investigation is needed i guess.

    Have a nice day

    Hi Irmantas,

many thanks for the detailed description and the video, very strange behavior indeed.

I will keep an eye on this and if anyone else experiences the same issue please report it here or open a new thread.

Any questions please let me know.

Hello, I’d like to report that I have exactly the same problem, the same order of events, no difference.

Chart goes really fast at max speed, no matter how much indicators I put, but when opening another TF it starts to slow more and more until it takes like 25 seconds to each candle to close.
And closing the offline charts doesn’t improve the speed, the only way is to start a new backtest.

Thank you both for the updates, I will add an option to change the refresh rate of the secondary chart in the next release. At the moment the secondary chart updates on every tick, the new setting will allow to skip ticks and only update the chart according to your input.

I hope that this will helps resolve your issues.

I wasn’t able to recreate this on an old testing pc with just 2GB of RAM even with antivirus turned on.

    Jan

    Hello.
I would like to know what is the approximate date for this update.
Happens that I’m waiting for this, but the most I could wait is the 30 days guarantee.
I do not want this to be seen as a threat, it’s not what I want to mean.

    Thanks,
    Federico

    Hi Federico,

apologies for the delay, the updated version has been released today.

In the new version (1.1.02) I have added a new variable to the Expert Properties called MTF_update_frequency. This value determines how often offline charts will be updated. The default value is 3 but please do some experiments and let me know if this helps.

I know that changing it from the expert properties is not ideal, but this way I could add the option without putting any additional load on the client computer and not slowing the test down any further.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Jan

    Hi Jan,

Managed to find an optimal value and I can run at max speed with no problems through a 2 month backtest using 3 charts.
    It’s working perfect.

    Thanks for this update!
