    Hi Federico,

great suggestion, thank you for getting in touch.

The offline charts are generated from the original timeframe and so the earliest they can start is at the time of the first candle on the original timeframe.

I don’t think I can come up with a satisfactory solution for this anytime soon but will keep it in the back of my head and if I can do something will let you know.

    Hi Greg,

    many thanks for the suggestion!

Changing the font size would unfortunately mess up some of the screens, so that is not an option and resizing SphereTester windows is not possible either.

I will however add an option in one of the future versions to enlarge all graphical objects by 50% to make it work better with high resolution screens. This is a big addition and don’t have an ETA yet, but will update this thread as soon as I know anything closer.

    Hi Gilberto, Astor,

    thanks for the suggestion!

Unfortunately due to limitations imposed by the MT4 platform this is not possible at the moment but I will keep my eyes open and if the possibility arises I will implement it.

    Hi Federico,

apologies for the delay, the updated version has been released today.

In the new version (1.1.02) I have added a new variable to the Expert Properties called MTF_update_frequency. This value determines how often offline charts will be updated. The default value is 3 but please do some experiments and let me know if this helps.

I know that changing it from the expert properties is not ideal, but this way I could add the option without putting any additional load on the client computer and not slowing the test down any further.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thank you both for the updates, I will add an option to change the refresh rate of the secondary chart in the next release. At the moment the secondary chart updates on every tick, the new setting will allow to skip ticks and only update the chart according to your input.

I hope that this will helps resolve your issues.

I wasn’t able to recreate this on an old testing pc with just 2GB of RAM even with antivirus turned on.

    Hi Alber,

the number you put in the dialog is the multiplier value. The timeframe of the main chart gets mulitplied by it.

For example if your main chart has a timeframe of M1 (1 minute) and you enter 10 as the multiplier the chart generated will be an M10 (10 minutes) time frame chart. If your original chart is a H1 (1 hour) chart and you enter 24 as the multiplier the new chart will be a D1 (daily) time frame chart.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Thanks,
    Jan

    Hi Alber,

    many thanks for choosing SphereTester!

Can you please confirm that from the list you are opening the chart that has a _ST suffix after the name of the symbol (see screenshot below).

SphereTester generates it’s own offline charts to avoid conflict with other indicators and scripts and these are marked with the _ST suffix. Only these charts are updated while the backtest is running.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Hi David,

    many thanks for choosing SphereTester!

Is the simulator paused when you click/move the buttons and nothing is happening? Please make sure that the chart is moving when you are doing these.

The way SphereTester works is the same as any other indicator or Expert Advisor for Metatrader 4, an action is only taken when a new tick comes in. So if the chart is moving really slowly, let’s say at 1 tick/2 seconds and you click a button right after the last tick, the action associated with that button will only happen when the next tick comes in 2 seconds later. If the chart is paused the action will not happen until it is unpaused and a new tick comes in.

As for the colour of the buttons I might add the option to customise them in a future release.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Hi,

with that spec you shouldn’t experience a significant or even noticeable slowdown. Other users with less powerful pcs are happily using mtf without any problems, in fact before each release I test the software on a pc with a T3000 Intel Celeron processor and 2 GB RAM and it works fine there.

I suspect it will be something local but to say if it is the terminal, windows or a third app is only possible after some investigation.

Is it happening with all Symbols?
Is it happening with all brokers in different terminals?
Do you have an antivirus on a very strict setting running? The MTF functionality involves moving files and something might be capturing them.

If this doesn’t help I can have a look tonight around 9pm UK time using remote access.

    Thanks,
    Jan

    Ho Hector

    Thanks

    Hi Irmantas,

The MTF feature uses additional resources and therefore can slow down the speed of the backtest.

The only thing I can recommend that you try is changing the modelling quality to the control points method, it should speed up the process.

If that doesn’t help much then I’m afraid the hardware is not suitable for this and you should consider upgrading it.

Fixing the Volume on offline charts is in the to do list and should be released within the next two weeks.

Please let me know if this helps

    Thanks

    Hi Alfonso,

I am sorry to say but the MTF feature is not going to work under XP. It is an unsupported operating system and you will encounter issues using other indicators and expert advisors as well so my recommendation to you is to upgrade to an up to date operating system.

All trading functionalities are going to work fine.

    Hi Alfonso,

    many thanks for choosing SphereTester!

This error occurs when MetaTrader is installed in the Program Files folder instead of the User Data Directory.

This can cause problems with other indicators and expert advisors as well, so I recommend that you reinstall MetaTrader or install a new instance after enbaling user account control on your computer.

First uninstall MT4 from your computer.

To enable User Account Control simply click on the start button and enter “uac” in the search box and hit enter. The UAC settings page will open, change the notification level to the default one (second from the bottom) and click OK.

Although not necessary I recommend that you restart your PC at this point and install the Metatrader after your pc has rebooted.

Once installed open the data folder from MT4 (File/Open Data Folder) and copy SphereTester in the experts folder.

More information on why this is necessary can be found here: https://www.mql5.com/en/articles/1388

Please let me know how you get on and if you require further assistance just ask.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Jan
