    Hi Oscar,

many thanks for choosing SphereTester. If not all the options are visible in the Strategy Tester it is probably minimized and can be easily restored by resizing the Strategy Tester window. Just hover over the Strategy Tester at the top and when your cursor changes to an arrow pointing up and down the same time hold the left mouse button down and pull it upwards. This will resize the window and the hidden options become visible.

After you have done that please follow the instructions in this article to correctly set up the tester, optimization should never be selected.

Let me know if this helps.

    Regards,
    Jan

    Hi Tomasz,

looks like you are using a broker with some special symbols. Unfortunately there is a limitation on how many characters the name of a symbol can contain and mt4 doesn’t let SphereTester to apply the necessary suffix to the name of the chart to recognise it as it’s own.

I will try and think of a workaround, in the meantime do you have another preferred broker you could use?

    Hi Tomasz,

    many thanks for choosing SphereTester!

Can you please confirm that from the list you are opening the chart that has a _ST suffix after the name of the symbol (see screenshot below).

SphereTester generates it’s own offline charts to avoid conflict with other indicators and scripts and these are marked with the _ST suffix. Only these charts are updated while the backtest is running.

If this doesn’t help please have a look in the Journal tab of the tester and take a screenshot of it for me.

Please let me know how you get on.

    Hi Ahmad,

    many thanks for choosing SphereTester.

Your request is completely valid but unfortunately it would require some fundamental changes to the software. The Main Panel (that is where you can open trades and change settings) has a dependency on the main chart and so it cannot be moved. The Trades and News panels could be made independent, I will look into the possibility of doing that but I cannot guarantee that it will be implemented or if so than at what time frame.

    Hi Atul,

pending orders are executed when you drag the arrow symbol for the order type within 50 pixel points to the right side of your chart. When within the area a horizontal line should appear to allow you to position the order correctly. If you use a high resolution monitor you have to make sure that you drag the arrow really close to the right side of the chart.

I really hope this helps but if you still cannot get it to work please check the Journal tab of the strategy tester for any error messages after you have tried placing a pending order.

    Hi Mario,

I am afraid that feature is not available in Metatrader4.

    Hi Mario,

the above error refers to lack of historical data. Please make sure you have enough historical data for the timeframe and period selected. You can do this by opening a live chart and scrolling back to the past to the time you want your backtest to start at. This will force MT4 to download the data and it will work in the tester.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Greg,

are you using MTF charts when experiencing these issues? If so can you please disable all antivirus software for the time of the backtest.

    Hi Richard,

please check the Journal tab of your tester for any error messages. You probably don’t have any historical data available for the timeframe and symbol selected.

You can force download data from your broker by opening a live chart, turn off auto scroll and using the Page Down button scroll back into the past for as long as you can see new data added to the chart.

    Hi Miguel,

you can only go candle by candle if you are using the Open Prices Only testing model by pressing F12 but I don’t think anyone would recommend to use Open Prices only for testing.

In other testing models you can also use F12 ta advance tick by tick, Greg kindly shared his method in this post: http://spheretester.com/support/topic/shortcuts/#post-1905

Other than that I’m afraid it is not possible to advance a candle by a press of a button at the moment.

    I hope this helps.

    Jan
